Tarangire National Park is famous for the massive elephant herds, and diverse wildlife. During the dry season, the animals will congregate around the Tarangire River. This park is located near Arusha and offers excellent game viewing and bird viewing (over 500 species). Lions, zebras, giraffes, mongoose, and termite mounds will entertain the tourist on a drive through this 2850 sq km (1100 sq mi) park.
